Privacy Policy

Last updated 2 October 2026

This policy explains what information the MovieHouse apps and this website handle, why, and what control you have. The short version: we keep what is needed to run your account and sync your viewing, we do not show ads, and the apps contain no advertising or third-party analytics software.

What we collect

Account

When you create an account we store your email address and a salted hash of your password (never the password itself). We use them to sign you in and to help you recover access.

Viewing data

To make one account work across screens, we store your My List, your watch history and your playback position for each title. This is what lets the TV resume where the phone stopped. Clip reactions (likes) and the search terms you enter are stored for the same reason.

Devices and sessions

Each signed-in device gets a session record: a device identifier generated by the app, the device type (phone or TV), the app version and when it was last active. This enforces the device limit, lets you release a device you no longer use, and tells the app which update to offer.

Downloads

Files you download for offline viewing stay on your device. The app keeps a record of which titles you downloaded so it can show them in Downloads and resume interrupted downloads.

This website

The website sets no cookies. If you pick a device manually, that choice is kept in your browser's session storage and disappears when you close the tab. It makes one request to our update server to show the current app version, and, when you press a download button, fetches the app file for you. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard connection data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver the page and to protect against abuse, and records cookie-free, aggregate page-view counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics). Those counts do not identify you and are not combined with your MovieHouse account.

What we do not do

  • No advertising, and no advertising software in the apps.
  • No third-party analytics or tracking software in the apps.
  • No selling or renting of your information.
  • No access to your contacts, photos, location or microphone from the phone app. The TV app's voice search uses the TV's own speech service only while you hold the microphone key.

Permissions the Android app asks for

  • Notifications: new-episode alerts and download progress. Optional.
  • Install unknown apps: so the app can install its own updates after you confirm.
  • Background activity: so downloads and playback in the floating window keep running when you switch apps.

How long we keep it

Account and viewing data are kept while your account exists. Session records for devices you release are revoked immediately. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove the data above from our systems; temporary caches clear on their normal schedule.

Your choices

  • Release any signed-in device from the sign-in screen.
  • Clear your watch history, and remove titles from My List, from within the app.
  • Ask for a copy of your data or for deletion of your account by writing to [email protected] from the email address on the account.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version; material changes will be announced in the app or on this site.
